Privacy Policy
Git Fold manages Git identities on your Mac. It does not require a Git Fold account or run an analytics or advertising service.
Information stored on your Mac
Git Fold stores GitHub usernames, Git commit names and emails, selected SSH private-key paths, folder rules, file-access bookmarks, and cached public avatars locally. With your permission, first-run import reads relevant values from existing local Git, GitHub CLI, and SSH configuration. The app may update Git and SSH configuration files you allow it to access. It does not copy GitHub CLI tokens or SSH private-key contents to its own settings or upload them to a Git Fold server.
Requests to GitHub
When you add or import a GitHub username, the app may request that user’s public profile from GitHub to suggest a display name and no-reply commit email. It may also request a public avatar. These requests go directly from your Mac to GitHub and disclose the requested username and ordinary network information to GitHub. GitHub’s privacy statement applies to GitHub’s handling of those requests.
This website and support email
This site is hosted by Vercel. Your browser sends ordinary request information, such as an IP address, to deliver the pages and protect the service. We do not run site analytics, advertising trackers, or a contact form. If you email support, your address and message are processed by our email forwarding and inbox providers so we can receive and answer it. We may retain support correspondence for follow-up; contact us to request deletion, subject to any applicable record-keeping requirements.
Your control
You can edit account settings and remove folder rules in the app. To remove a stored username and cached avatar, remove its folder rules first, then choose Remove… beside the account in Settings. Removing the last account clears Git Fold’s managed default Git identity and SSH key setting without deleting your key file. You can revoke file access through macOS. Uninstalling the app does not automatically undo Git or SSH configuration written outside its sandbox; remove Git Fold-managed entries if you no longer want them. Other app preferences remain until you delete its container data.
